Title: engine performance Post by scott holden(Guest) on 05.02.04 at 18:58:00
Hi folks, has anyone any hard information on performance improvements for the tr1/xv920? Please don,t refer me to the mysterious Mr. Koch as I,m aware he has the info, but have had no luck accessing it.Are the tr1 cylinder sleeves different than the xv920? What overbore is possible, using what pistons etc? Valves? Cams? Exhaust dimensions?Carbs?Any help would be greatly appreciated. The bike is nearly complete, with an rc51 swingarm and shock,R1 front end,Nsr 250 bodywork, reworked frame(chrome/moly rear half). It,s down to about 370lbs and just needs more power! Please help! Scott

I have installed stock 1000 pistons into the stock barrels of a 920..I wouldn't go much further than that though. I may have info on someone doing trick cams though.

Hi Scott....Bob here. I have an XV920RH and a spare engine. I am planning to install XV1100 cylinders on that engine. With the 920's stroke it will turn out to be 981cc (just like the TR1). This modification requires that you have the engine cases bored out to accept the larger sleeves on the 1100 cylinders. There are no pistons, cylinders or rings available for the 920's any more but 1100 parts are plentifull. Hope this helps. Bob |
