Hi,
My XV1000RH started to run very roughly & the mecanic at the bike shop told me that the mixture control valve was faultly.  They are expensive & there apparently isn't a new one in New Zealand. He removed it & said that the bike doesn't really need it.
This worries me, does anyone know what problems could result from running without this valve ?

is that the plastic thing under the small front spoiler, that's connectedd
via a small tube with the intake of one cylinder? Afaik that silly thing
shall only avoid banging out of the exhaust when throttling down, so
it isn't really needed. The bike runs fine without it, and a banging
exhaust is funny. ;-)

I noticed after more than a year that i missed that part on my 81-TR1. I didn't know what purpose it had but Georg evidently did! It runs well without it. Don't bother to by a new one.

Thanks for the input, you're all right, it seems to make no difference in the running & frankly my Tr1 has always backfired on throttle roll off so maybe the stupid valve has never been working.
One explanation for the valve came from a local machanic, he said that the valve was designed to prevent 'blow-back', which in the old triumph's could blow the carburaters right off, although how you'd ever blow the carburaters off a TR1 is beyond me.

You can blow the carbs off an XV920, and you don't want to do it farther from home than you want to walk.  It only takes a screwdriver (like the ones you have at home) to help put things back like they were.  Happened to me after a fillup.
