Title: oil pump chain - loose! Post by Lars Sandström(Guest) on 09.04.05 at 10:24:00
Checked the chain for the oil pump and it was very sloppy! I can move it about 20-30 mm sideways!! Is it OK or should I replace it? Is it important to replace the sprocket in the crank-shaft??

I think that's "normal". The oil pump chain on my TR is also quite loose. But if you have the engine open once, you should dismount the oil pump and clean the intake filter. Bye, Georg |

But then I'll have to remove the magneto-flywheel? Otherwise it seems impossible to remove the intake filter. If so; do you have any tips for removing the flywheel?? A special puller is needed that has 3 bolts to thread (M6?) into the holes in the flywheel - is there any other method? Gruss Lars |

Hi, you just have to remove the sprocket from the oil pump. The oil pump chain than hangs loosely around, and you can take out and disassemble the pump and clean the intake sieve. Bye, Georg |

Thanks a lot! I'll hurry home and pull out the pump! Still about 20 cm of snow here in south of Sweden so there is no real hurry... |

Thanks again Georg! This weekend I pulled out the pump and cleaned it; it was very dirty! See pics at; http://www.buf-online.kristianstad.se/~lars.sandstrom/mcfix81.htm Text in swedish but the pics is the most interesting i think. |
