Title: Problem with gear selector
Post by ChrisN on 23.07.07 at 20:52:26

Hi Friends,
I had a problem selecting gears. When I took off the left engine cover the gear selector mechanism fell out due to the center screw shearing.
My problem is as all the parts fell on the garage floor I cannot find where they all fit.
There are 4 hardered steel rollers that fit into the back of the shift drum located on the end of the shift cam. One roller is longer than the other 3 and is fixed in the shift drum. There are three rollers and 5 holes to fit them. I do not know which holes to put the rollers in. I have a genuine yamaha manual and a haynes manual. They do not show this part.
Help please
Ride safe,
ChrisN

Chris - belated reply (only just rejoined the board).
Take a look at:

There's lots of photos of the strip down and gear clusters.
Maybe something useful there?
