Title: TR1 Engine
Post by KaiMaani on 12.09.07 at 19:09:00

I just bought an XV1000 TR1 -81. It has quite a lot kilometers driven with the engine (91000). Is it lot for this kind of engine? How long have you people been driving with this kind of engine?

With 91Mm the engine is just broken in. ;-) You should perhaps consider to replace the oil pump with a new one from the XV1100. Use regular mineralic oil and change the oil regularly. Check valve clearance from time to time. Thats it.

Bye,
Georg

Thanks George for countenance. Maybe i'll change the oilpump next winter, when i'm going anyway learn to do the maintainance for the bike.
The only problem i've got until now (bought the bike last monday ;)) is that the engine gets easily extinguished when i slow down for trafficlights and roadcrossings. I have tried to increase idle-running from the screw on carburator, but that dont help.

Perhaps the mixture is too rich because of a too high fuel level within the float chamber?
