Yes, I have a XV1000 '81model (TR1) and I just got one, Fits fine and works very well :)

Sorry, just saw pic of your short shaft starter motor, I got the long shaft 5A8 81800-60 which is same as 5A8 81800-10 as pictured on the ebay link you listed , you dont want this one. you want the other one ( short shaft one).
