Title: Kupplung schleift immer noch...
Post by GuyUK on 05.11.08 at 12:19:45

My dammmm clutch still slips, not all the time but if I accelerate hard.....I've new springs & plates (fibre plates) - I've been told that it's unlikely that I need new steel plates. I've also been told that using synthetic oil can cause this - any comments???? :-?

Synthetic oil is definitely not neccessary for the TR1, and you often hear stories that it made the clutch slip. So use normal mineralic 15W40. Also be sure, that the clutch cable and the mechanism under the little aluminum cover on the left side of the engine are well oiled and free moving, and that there is enough clearance within the cable and the pressure rod. Eventually use stronger springs, for example from Lucas.

Bye,
Georg

Thanks... I've bought the oil already, waiting for a new filter (it was about time!!) - new plates & heavy springs are in - I'll check push-rod freedom & cable, pretty sure it isn't them though.
Thanks - if it doesn't help, could it be the steel plates??
