Title: Mixture Control Valve - line routing
Post by HuwLomax on 02.05.11 at 21:43:30

:-/
Good evening all.

My xv750 (E) backfires whenever the throttle is closed and the exhaust shows no sign of
blowing despite the state of the pipes which are more weld than original metal.
I also own a TR1 which is in the process of being rewired and reburbished and I now realise that neither
has the mixture control valve fitted!!!
Fortunately I have found 2 valves (and hopfully will find the pipes, 3-way junctions and clips) which I am going to fit but can anyone describe the routing of the pipes and, most importantly, where each should finish?

Thank you for reading,

Huw

Hi,

did You have a look at the manual: Technics -> Carburetion -> mixture control valve (right here on Manfred's website)? There You find the requested information.

But it seems almost common sense that the mixture control valve is good for nothing. Many drivers that I know don't use it anymore.
The effect You describe should disappear as soon as the carbs are adjusted properly.

Good luck,

Stefan

Hi HUW,

I am one who has put this mixture control in the trash ;D, because the part in old age, can make mistakes >:(, and it does not effect. :o
You must for the intake, cylinder front let a rest Rubberhose (tupe or piepe) and close tightly even with a screw cap or that no air can be drawn.

To your problem .... you say that the close of the vergassr You misfire?
May be the carburetor, electric with too rich a mixture, or incorrect.
Even a low battery or defective TCI (everyone always says CDI) ... can do that.

Thank you for the replies :-)
I will take your advice and will not try
to refit the valves-will try adjusting the carb.
