Clutch is slipping a little under hard excelleration is adding an extra plate a case of just slotting it in or is there more to it

You have to swap out the basket for an XV1100 item, shorten the inner studs (the ones that hold the springs) to be flush with the outer basket and remove the first steel disk and replace it with an ordinary one. Then the pressure plate has to be spun up on a lathe to remove the ribs or otherwise it'll touch the clutch cover.

I did a little writeup (with photos) for my blog a while ago:

Cheers,
Greg

Try new reinforced clutch springs first.
