Title: TR1 Pistons
Post by Steve on 25.05.16 at 13:06:21

Hi there,

I have a TR1 engine that we are rebuilding and as is clear on the forum the pistons are near if not impossible to get. I see that the suggested solution would be to use XV1100 bits to get around the problem. I am in Cape Town and there are no crankshafts etc.. available as spares right now.

I believe that there is a difference between the 1000 and 1100 pistons even though the bore size is the same and the cylinder length is the same. I also see that the con rods have the same part no. My deduction says that the difference in stroke is shared between the crank and the piston. Does anyone know at all what the difference is in height between the 1000 and 1100 pistons?

I am considering putting a spacer at the bottom of the cylinder to make up the difference, if that is at all feasible.

Any thoughts would be awesome.

Hi, the 1100 piston is about 3 mm shorter, because the crank has 5,8 mm more.
The weight is also otherwise. Using  only possible with the 1100 crankshaft.
Have a set of 0,25 - 1000 pistons with very low mileage (under 6000 miles)
in stock. Price is 200,- € with rings an pins but without shipping.
Greetings Sepp ( and my english is bavarian style - not for school use)
S.

Thanks Sepp,
I would like to take you up on the offer. How would I go about getting your details to pay for the pistons, obviously shipping too.
