Title: 2 piston brake calibers to TR1?
Post by Sami_Timonen on 16.08.16 at 20:47:00

Hi

I would like to install some 2 piston brake calibers to Yamaha TR1 1982.

Does anybody know from what bike might be closest for this.
I was thinking Yamaha V-max but it had something like 85mm
Bolt distance..

I dont want to change the front fork because im trying to restore
The old look with better performance from engine brakes and suspension.

Br. Sami

Hi,
another possibility would be to use a hand brake cylinder with 14 mm for example of Yamaha sr500 (2J4). A well maintained original brake-system with it is indeed good for braking with two fingers. (Some guys like me have done this modification.)

Hallo Sami,
I use the Hand brake cylinder from the old xj600 Diversion, with a adjustable handbrake lever. The Brake piston diameter is also 14mm.
In use with steel braided brake lines you get  a very good brake.

I know that this is an old thread but this may help people in the future. I have just fitted Yamaha MT-09 Tracer front master cylinder. The reason I chose this as that it retains the original look because the master cylinder is the same shape as original but also has 5 position adjuster too and for £15 off Ebay it was a good deal
