I am having a nightmare with my Starter solenoid. After many hours trying to get it going I have some success.
I have fitted the thick battery cable to the lower of the two large terminals and a small cable to the small 6mm spade. The solenoid is fitted in the bike.
When I touch the small cable (fitted the 6mm spade) to the negative battery terminal the solenoid pulls in but starter does not spin.
The starter spins when powered separately without the solenoid.
I am getting 10V to the starter through the solenoid.
If I fit the heavy cable to the taller of the two large terminals I get nothing.
I also notice that the small cable is 12V+ live!!! Is this correct? It must be getting power through the solenoid. This is the one I am toughing on the negative side of the battery.
The negative side of battery is connected to the loom and the frame.
What is wrong here? Does anyone have a good photo of the wiring at the solenoid.
