Title: Engine breakdown/rebuild
Post by Broodjesalami on 11.04.17 at 11:14:59

Hoi
My crankshaft bearing melted after a high(top) speed run, chasing a sport car.
When I returned to normal highway speeds I pulled the clutch (Not shure if it was for sound/ check for topgear)
Oil was 15W40 turbo diesel oil (cheap and no friction additives)
Front bearing (very thin)  :-/

Crankshaft

Hopefully this will polish out.
Is the crankshaft heat treated from the factory? There is bleu discoloration

Things I need (engine 5A8 tr1 1983)
Rods, Pins and bearings (can I find them at the dealer?)
Piston rings( there a 3 sources on ebay  America, Japan and Germany which one?)
Cilinder head gaskets
Other gaskets
An upgraded oil pump (xv1100?  Is the bt1100 an option/better?)

The cilinder also needs a hone (and hopefully no oversize pistons)

Bearings and Rods of the  1100 Virago  should fit, XVS 1100 or BT1100 are different (at least the Rods), the Oil -Pump of the BT works.
If you can´t get spares at CMS or so try "Yamaha Klassiker Parts/ Horst Meise ".
Why do you need new Rods?

The piston pins and the top bearing of the connecting rod are junk.
And I dont think you can replace the top bearing.

CMS is out of rods.
Ive send an email to "Yamaha Klassiker Parts/ Horst Meise "

Nice! Is that a Cone-Engineering (DimeCityCycles)-"silencer" ?

No, Mac exhaust with a hand made cone exhaust (somewhere in italie).
It was to expensive to import the cone from America.
