Title: TR1 Gearing Post by TrevorTR1 on 25.10.18 at 11:03:57
Hi, I am building a TR1 Café, and hoping to get some advice on gearing. Bike is being fitted with 17" wheels, and planning to fit 16 / 29 530 Sprockets. Could anyone comment on if this is good, or other options. I am also selling quite a few TR1 parts if anyone is looking for something. Regards Trevor Sydney, Australia |

This site is nice for calculating gearing/tire options: https://www.gearingcommander.com/ I think my first consideration would be if you can actually fit a 530/29t rear on there, that is quite small. I have 530 19t/38t gearing on mine and a 170/60-17" rear tire. |

Thank You for the reply. I really do not know, other than a thread in this forum saying 29T was a good option. I would like bike to be doing under 4,000 RPM at 100km. With the 17" wheel fitted, can you please advise what speed / revs your bike runs in top gear. Again appreciate any help Regards Trevor |

Hello Trevor, 16 /530 is not a good choice, the chain will get in contact with the swing arm. And these small sprockets will be worn very fast 19/530 is good (bigger is difficult, it won´t fit), for the rear sprocket and a 17 inch wheel a 38 or 39 could be OK, regards Ali |

Hi Ali, Thanks for the reply. I check the JT sprocket site, and it does not look like I can purchase off the shelf, the sizes you recommended. Did you have them custom made ?. If so are you able to advise details. Thanks for your help Trevor |

Hi Trevor, yes, there are no 19/530 sprockets available, therefor i intended a collective Order here in Germany. The Sprocket-Shop asked 140 EU for one-time preparing the machines to make the inner toothing and Bores, plus the pre-processed sprocket and shipping. The more i order the cheaper it is. I could order one more, but surely the shipping costs to were you live are silly, Regards Ali |

Hi Ali, Thanks for your help with gearing. I found a place in USA that can make both front and rear sprockets with required splines / bolt holes. They were quite reasonable, considering it was a custom job. Next adventure, mating GSXR600 front to bike...... Regards Trevor |
