Title: XV920R Exhaust Post by Odradek on 26.11.23 at 10:43:29
Hello, Just joined the forum. I have a 1982 XV920R (US model), which has been off the road for 25 years. Finally getting around to putting it together again. Have all the parts except I have somehow lost the front exhaust header pipe. The original part number for 1981 - 1983 bikes is 4X7-14621. For 1984 and on bike the number is part 1RV-14621. Are they interchangeable ? They look similar. 4X7-14621 is impossible to find. Will 1RV-14621 fit a 1982 bike ? Related question : Has anyone here fitted a Mac 2 into 1 header and manage to retain the centre stand ? http://www.nichecycle.com/ncs/categories/exhaust/head-pipes/804-1003h-yamaha-xv-920-r-virago-2-1-black-head-pipes-by-mac-performance.html Thanks for any info. ![]() |

Hello Odradek, at first, welcome here in the forum. I had a look to serveral Part Lists accoding XV TR1 and derivates. See the PIC. The Numbers are the same, so the Parts are interchangeable. Please take in mind, this is for the original Part only, will not fit for power reduced Versions. If these Power reduction is done by welded in Exhaust gas air flow reducing Shims. So far. With kind regards Anja Mannheim Germany ![]() |

Thank you Anja, So the two parts are the same - 14621, and only the prefix is different. I was worried that the cylinder head had been changed from 1984 onwards, and the newer pipe wouldn't fit my 1982 bike. Think I have found a later pipe for sale. Thanks. |

Hello Odradek, I think that is interchangeable. XV750, XV920, XV1000, TR1, ... On my Image in my last answer, you can see, that the item number is identical (XV750 and XV1000/TR1) I found the Code 1RW = XV750 perhaps 1RV = XV920? What your documents are telling? With kind regards Anja |

I'm getting parts diagrams from https://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-xv920r-virago-1982-c-usa_model8891/partslist/ Exhaust is at https://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-xv920r-virago-1982-c-usa_model8891/partslist/B-06.html The pipe I need is 4X7 1462100, and hard to find. I do hope 1RV-14621 will fit because I've just ordered one from someone on eBay. My next problem will be joining it to the rear cylinder pipe and fitting some nice silencers. |

Yup, tried that years ago - it really doesn't as the center stand hangs down by about 10cm/ 4inches and catches everything. Cheers, Greg |

Just found this image. Looks like the original part number was superseded by 1RV-14621. So the one I've just ordered should fit. ![]() |

On an American Aprila forum I've found a guy who has managed to fit the 2 into 1 while keeping the centre stand. Both pics are the same bike. Mac header doesn't look too bad when it is chromed. ![]() ![]() |

Hello Odradek, you are right, looks really nice. Can you give me some more details about? Perhaps a Contact address? or a Live Sound file to get an impression? I am looking for a replacement for my Exhaust System. I would prefere a double Exhaust System, but it is hard to find one. So your presented images are some kind of advertise me. The pic shows my bike, for illustration. With kind refards Anja |

That bike is in Texas, USA. I found it in this thread at an April forum. https://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?259391-Yamaha-TR1-XV920R-Project The bike has been extensively modified while maintaining stock appearance. ![]() |

That's hellgate's old bike... he ended up with some rather nice Keihins on that one. (And there used to be a video-clip on youtube winding it out like it owed him money. Back in the old VTF-days we were in touch a lot...) Allegedly the Mac 2in1 is now made in stainless and is (definitely) available via NicheCycle in the US. @Anja: the muffler that comes with it is absolutely terrible from a noise point of view. Cheers, Greg |

Hallo Greg, thanks for the Note. The Question about the loudness would be the next. So it is answered right away. Yesterday aftenoon, I had a looong session on hellgates webside. hellgarte did a very busy job. Greg, do you have some infos about the blue bike whether it is still on the road or it is dead again? kind regards Anja |

No idea, sorry. We were only in touch via Virago Tech Forum and (a bit) on Do The Ton, but I lost contact a while ago.
