Guten Morgen zusammen,
wie schon beschrieben, baue ich moementan auf xs 650 Speichenräder um. Dazu konnte ich einen Adapter,entwickelt von März aus Prüm, erwerben.
Mir ist allerdings nicht klar, ob alle Teile vollständig vorhanden sind. Hat jemand ein Foto oder eine Zeichnung davon? Vielen lieben Dank und schönen Saisonstart. Gruss Claus

Vielen Dank Anja. Ich benötige aber genau Einzelheiten zu dem genannten Adapter. Davon gab es sehr wenige. Da ich das Teil als "Beifang" bekommen habe und nie montiert anschauen konnte, wäre ein Foto oder eine Zeichnung sehr hilfreich. Schönen Tag noch. Gruss Claus

Hallo Claus,

um welche Art Adapter handelt es sich? Für den Umbau auf XS Speichenräder sind keinerlei Adapter notwendig. Alle Distanzbuchsen etc. können
von TR1 bzw. XS verwendet werden. Lediglich die XS Achse wird angepasst und das Kettenrad muss mit Beilagen etwas distanziert werden.

Ist es ein Adapter der die Verwendung des Kettenkastens ermöglicht? Das wäre dann am Umfang bzw. der Form erkennbar.

Da ich mich auch mit dem Gedanken getragen habe, meine TR1 auf XS650-Speichenräder zu stellen, habe ich heute direkt bei Ferdinand März nachgefragt. Das ist seine Antwort:

das muß eine Fehlinformation sein, da wir nie  XS650 Räder in eine TR1 gebaut haben.

Also, was auch immer Du da für einen Adaptersatz hast, er ist nicht von Ferdinand März. Wo genau hast Du den denn her? Gibts Bilder?

Moin Dirk,
der Adapter ist sehr gut gemacht. Angeblich gab es den für Umbau ohne und Umbau mit Kettenkasten.
Wobei meiner für den Umbau ohne Kettenkasten, also mit O Ring Kette ist.
Ich mache später mal Bilder.

Bin gespannt, ob den jemand kennt?Mir wurde der als "März Innovation" verkauft. Vorteil ist, dass das Hinterrad nicht versetzt eingespeicht werden muss.

Hallo Claus, wenn der untere Ring 7mm hat dann ersetzt er die hier in Kevin Emery's Zeichnung 6 Stk. Spacer/Distanzen, oder?
Aber wofür sollte dann der 2. Ring sein? Evtl. ein Universaladapter für eine andere Nabe? Suzuki GT oder Honda CB?

Irgendwo habe ich mal gelesen, dass das Hinterrad dazu versetzt eingespeicht werden muss.
Ich werde mal die Kettenflucht prüfen und melde mich.

There is some misinformation here.

First. The document was created by Robert Lincoln. I just asked it to be uploaded here. However I have done this conversion so have some experience on the wheel build.

The adapters shown on the axle are not required, you need a combination of TR1 and XS650 spacers on the axle. Exactly as described in the drawings.

For the round spacers I think I have an answer for you. The drawing calls for 7mm spacers. I achieved this by placing large nuts under the bolts fixing the rear sprocket to the hub. This could also be achieved by using one of the circular adapters. HOWEVER. I found the drawing was wrong. The spacers required should be 12mm. (As measured on my bike, yours may be different.) Perhaps the second spacer was used to increase the offset of the rear sprocket from7 to 12mm?

Warning. The sprocket sits over a rim on the rear hub which locates it. If you use two spacers as shown (or even one thick spacer) it is unsafe. There is nothing to locate the sprocket correctly, one spacer can slide over the other and it all relies on the side forces on the bolts retaining the sprocket to the hub. I hope that makes sense? What I did was to have an adapter made that was 12mm thick. That adapter was made to sit over the ring on the hub and also has a raised ring one it, exactly the same as on the hub. In affect the adapter located on the hub and then the sprocket could locate on the adapter. I hope that makes sense too?

I do not have a photo of it.

On the lacing of the spokes on the rim you also have to check the alignment of the rim with the hub. Mine is very critical as I went for a wider hub. My rim is aligned dead centre with the hub. This is critical so measure and check carefully.

For the  lacing of the spokes I had nothing to compare it with. The wheel builder I used is very experienced so I left it to him, All I can say is it works. I rode to the rally last year with no problem. I have included three photos below which shows how they are laced.

The rims and tyres are a personal preference so have chosen the ones I wanted. There are others available on the market. I wanted the widest rims and tyres I could fit on the bike without altering the front forks or rear swing arm. I believe I have done that.

The front tyre just fits in the front forks. It is tight, you have to remove the bolts that hold the front mudguard in place to get the tyre in then replace them afterwards.

At the rear the alignment is critical and you will have to pay careful attention to alignment on the axle spacers, the rear sprocket spacer and the alignment of the rim to the hub for the wheel build.

I have chosen Avon Road Riders for two reasons. 1. I like them. 2. They are the only tyre I could get that would supply sizes that fit the front and rear rims.

I have fitted inner tubes to both tyres.

Front.

Rim: Morad 2.5 x 18
Tyre: Avon Roadrider 110/80

Rear.

Rim: Morad 4.25 x 18
Tyre: Avon Roadrider 150/70
