                    I've got an email alert set up for ebay and I've also joined a Facebook group that is a marketplace for secondhand bikes. I thought I was on to one when a guy got in touch to say his friend's father died recently leaving his beloved TR1 in the garage, would I be interested?

I waited a very long weekend for him to send me pics and it was this one:

They do crop up every now and then but you will probably be bidding against a bunch of breakers. I've seen more than one come and go on ebay only for recogniseable parts to apprear in the parts section on ebay a couple of months later.

Of course with the ones that are out there getting cafe-ed it might be worth looking for a decent parts bike and rebuild from there. You'll have to check most stuff over anyways so..

(ps the bobber the guy sent nearly had me crying..tears of laughter that is, each to their own but pretty it was not!)

I was just going to post the link to the bobber style bike and saw that you had got there before me.

The Bobber style bike is not for me either but having had a close look at it it wouldn't take much to put in back to original. The frame, engine. exhaust, suspension and wheels all look original. You would need a seat frame, seat, a tank, new fenders, foot rest and side panels. I have a seat frame and the other items are regularly available on eBay. Biggest issue would be the exhaust. The one on the bike for sale looks past its sell buy date! A good enough or even a OEM replacement is hard to come by.

I guess it just depends on what they sell it for. If it's cheap enough it may be worth converting.

I think there may be uglier conversions around. Just take a look in the Gallery section. Not all conversions are done well.
