Title: Greetings from Australia
Post by craybait on 06.08.22 at 08:48:40

I have a 1983 silver XV1000, which will get its license this week and be on the Road.
I am from Perth ,Western Australia and this bike was a Japanese import with 27,000 KLM on the clock and not running.
I have cleaned the 'green' Japanese gunk from the carburetors and ultrasonic cleaned and new jets and they now work. Solenoid was shot, reason for not running
New tyres, brakes MT 09 master cylinder, chain, had to leave off the chain cover of due to rotten rubber,[so custom spacer] new  wheel bearings , steering head bearings, new fork seals.
It passed license ,the equivalent of MOT.
Looking forward to some riding once it stops raining.
The forum information and members have been very helpful so thanks very much.
TR1's are rare here, we had the  81,82 750 shaft drive virago which are all cafe racers  by now and lots of  various sized Viragos
The BT 1100 was never sold here ,but I saw one in Melbourne  in 2019 that was driven here from Europe and sold a lovely bike, he is a member of the SR 500 club which is another bike I have. Some more people should do that [Drive from Europe to Australia], second hand bikes are expensive here, and I would like to find a BT 1100 to buy[There is always a trip to Italy possible] .
Cheers
Scott

G'day Scott!

XV1000 and SR500: undoubtedly a man of excellent taste!  :)
(I might be slightly biased though  ;) )

Cheers,
Greg

That SR is to die for... (mine looked the same plus a lot of rust - now she's just plain black these days...)
