My XV920... custom
04.09.12 at 16:10:37

Hello , TR1 fans.
I thought I would share my latest changes.
I am not sure what kind of bike this is now.  Not a cafe racer...
I am testing my rear suspension design.  It has about 100 km so far and is working well.  Someday there will be a turbocharger above the swingarm:

Hi Turbodog,

WOW............it is not my design but..............WOW !!

Lenght runs straight ahead  Grin Grin

Should be enough room for a turbocharger above the swingarm (which bike´s swingarm?)

By the way............ looks like you get a xv 1000 starter motor.

Greets

The style is not my way, but the design is interesting and the finish is alright.

Turbocharger in a TR1? You must be a good mechanic with a large portions courage!

Good job!

Glück auf!

Thanks.  I'm not sure the style is 'my way' either... I think it sort of grew this way from outside pressures... parts availability and price, my skill limitations, etc.
But, I can say I made it myself.  It is a light, nimble ride, with the great Yamaha XV power band, so that part I definitely like.
I am thinking it really does not NEED a turbo, but if I end the project here, what next?  Besides, I already have the EFI and turbo parts ready.

The turbo goes above this swingarm, or another one just like it:

And, yes... a proper starter! Grin

The turbo bike in the picture was assembled for fitting the exhaust.

It is now dis-assembled, and the rear suspension is on my daily driver for testing.  I wanted to be sure my home-made linkage would be strong enough, and the spring would be the proper strength with my linkage length. The shock is from a Buell M2.

It works well so far.  A shorter swingarm would be better.  This swingarm is from a Honda CBR600F4.  I carry a measuring tape with me and I measure the swingarms of motorcycles I see parked.  People think I am strange.

OK, I AM strange..... Roll Eyes

Hmm, almost 10 years later, I see something that reminds me to stop in here and say Hi!  Anyway, I hope all of you are well in these strange times.  I will put up a photo of my latest version of XV920 EFI Turbo "Restomod":

Greetings - nice to see you crawl back out from under the rock you hid at Wink

Gorgeous bike, but I might be turbo-biased.

Cheers,
Greg
