HELP!!

I have the above motorcycle...I have removed the carbs and fitted refurb kits....cleaned all holes....replaced the diaphragms. Checked all jet etc. sizes are correct and in the correct places...

the bike will not start...spark is good...new petrol...checked timing and valves. All good....the plugs are dry.....i have taken the carbs out and cleaned an checked everything...put them back...same issue no petrol at all getting to the plugs...both cylinders are the same…which means whatever is happening is the same for both cylinders…weird!

What am i missing...it is driving me crazy!! any and all help appriciated.

Craig

Hi Craig,

did you fit de small rubber tubes between intake socket and petrol tab? Otherwise the membrane would not pump petrol into the float chamber.

Goood luck!

Hi

Yes the small vaccum tubes are fitted.

Question?..are the cams different for front and rear cylinders?.....

hi Craig,
the cam No. 2 (stamped on it) will fit to the front cyl. , No. 1 to cyl.1(back) , cams are different.
Did you took off the spark-coils? The one with cablecolor orange and red-white at the connector goes to the front, grey and red-white belongs to the back. Swapping them results in good sparks, but the engine will not start.

thank you, i will try again

i can't see how i would have swapped the cams.. undecided......but there was a bit of confusion and the barrells were put back wrong the first time..for the cams to be wrong i would have had to phsicaly change parts around as they were stored in sperate containers.... Roll Eyes

is it possible to see the number without removing them?

It´s not possible to see the numbers without removing cams, but if you really swapped them, there should be a problem  with fixing the valve clearence.
But i never tried it so it´s a guess,

Ok....running again.... Grin....phew....sounding good too... Cool

Engine stopped working....plugs fowling...running rough...engine removed, new rings, valves done, engine and barrels painted. Put back together. Loose cam bolt...bent a valve...removed engine and replaced valve...refitted engine.....low compression on rear cylinder....engine removed.....new gaskets, replaced cam chains....( i know should have done it the first time!)...engine back together...won't run....rebuild carbs with kits and diaphragms...replace. Still won't go...removed carbs cleaned, checked, again...and again....

Anyway...found the problem and fixed it today....started first pop!! now i will run for a short time and change the oil...check bolts etc. etc....then i can get the tank and covers painted....maybe then i will post a pic.

Thanks for your replies Ali...much appreciated.

Regards

Craig

PS...Did you took off the spark-coils? The one with cable color orange and red-white at the connector goes to the front, grey and red-white belongs to the back

mine is the opposite...and no it wasn't the problem...Smiley

I'd love to tell you but i would be so embarrassed... lips sealed

lets just say it was very dumb and would have been easier to fix if the engine was out of the bike....
