I need a new battery. My Yuasa batteries only seem to last one winter!

I have checked through the previous forum entries and the recommended battery seems to be the Hawker PC535. But, I have checked out the 535 and the terminals appear to be the wrong way around. Plus the battery is slightly too tall for the existing holder.

These two batteries appear to be the correct size (slightly smaller and will fit) and have the terminals orientated the right way around. PC370 15AH & PC545 12AH.

Does anyone have experience of these batteries?

PS I do not want a lipo battery.

Hi Kevin, i use a 545, it is a bit smaller than the original battery, su you have to put something beneath it.

Hi Kevin,
even Yuasa should last more than one year - I had similar issue many years ago, battery lasted one or two years only. Then I changed the rectifier, an the Problem was gone.

Schorsch...hast Du in Kombination mit der 545 noch den Serien-Regler verbaut...oder so einen "mosfit" ????
hab in Willis Scrambler auch ne 545 ….aber mit dem Serienregler...und immer mal ne durchgebrannte Sicherung...???
nur die Mosfit sind ja kaum beschaffbar.....

I just came across something which may be relevant.

I have a GPS bracket fitted on my bike. It comes complete with a power leads that runs back to the battery. Close to the battery on the very same cable is a voltage convertor. I read that the voltage convertor consumes power even when the GPS is not connected or switched on.

My GPS is a bike specific unit made by Garmin. Does anyone know if these voltage convertors do consume power whilst not switched on?

I put a MOTOBATT MBTX24U on my new acquisition. Works well. 25 amp/h and it has posts on both sides of the battery (2x+, 2x-)
It was fitted with a pathetic 12 amp/h unit before.

Ref the GPS mount I have a Montana with an AMPS mount. No worries about a parasitic drain.
Search 'tinternet for parasitic drains. Loads of hits to choose from.

I got a so called "Gel-Battery"
It has 175 x 87 x 157. Its a "Poweroad" named "Nano Gel YG20L-BS" with 20 AH. Price is 100,-
I´m content with it.
