suspension & wheels

Hi Chaps,

it's been a while since my last visit to the site and alot has happened. I recently rode my xv1000 to Melbourne to watch the Motogp. It was a 8500km round trip and she did not miss a beat.
Question; can you rebuild the mono shock, and will a 18'' 1100 xs wheel fit on my shft drive.

hi Kero,

what I know for sure is:
the 18" wheel of the XJ900 fits perfectly. And there are handmade 15" wheels in Europe for sidecar combinations which do fit on XJ900 and XS1100 as well. So the XS1100 wheel should fit also. But only the "LG" "SE" and "S" models have the same design as the XV and I think those are 16" wheels too. But all the wheels above have disk brakes.

The back wheel of the XJ650 should be the one you´re looking for.
It´s an MT2,15x18 for 120/90-18 tires.

Suspension:
I just repaired the air tube, never opened the mono shock.

So long, Olaf

Olaf you are a legend, thankyou. As we have spoken before you would know I was interested in maybe a cafe racer conversion, however this is not a cost effective option for me so I will consider a 18'' rear end and rake and trail option to convert to TR1 like set up for improved handling. I just got back from my big trip and I have lost that loving feeling for the bike and motorcycling right now cry don't know why! I'm a slave to the mortgage and do not have the resources to spend on the old girl at present so the restore/custom work has stalled....for now!

Cheers
