Hi Tritonkev, hi all,
I experienced a similar issue with my bike shortly ago: Sometimes (but not not regularly) one of the cylinders had no spark and began to spit and bang. I checked, exchanged and/or renewed the following components:
- spark plugs, spark plug connectors, spark plug cables
- spark coils (including their wiring and connectors for the primary coils)
- ignition unit (TCI), I tried both: an ignitech as well as an intact original one
- pick-up coil unit (I installed a NOS part)
- battery (incl. connection elements and ground wiring)
- all the wiring and connectors that are related to the ignition, ignition lock and pick-up circuits
- carburetors.
All that didn't help. Finally I exchanged the
voltage regulator/rectifier. Seems that this was the culprit - as I could ride more than 550 km since then without the ignition issue.
My assumption for the root cause of the failure: The voltage regulator delivered false voltage values for some moments. As a consequence, the TCI became bamboozled and delivered no regular spark impulses any more.
Cheers,
Roland
