Hi Jamie,
I would start to adjust the floaters  to bring the fuel level to  the upper edge of the floating chamber,
i think it´s a bit of a trial and error. also the jet-size is important. Controlling the colour of spark Plugs will help.
I once tried 36 Mikunis from a Yamaha Bulldog ( 1100 ccm V-Twin) , runs smooth at first, but floating chambers where too small, the mixture went too lean after a short time at full speed.
I presume you will use carbs of the Yam-XT ?
Please write if you are successful,
Ali

Thanks Ali
there out of the box from sudco
I was going to use them in my Yamaha XS650 race bike which has been  rephased 277 degrees and bored out to 750
but the 34 's worked better
spoke to Mr Mercury Morse from Vintage brake in the US who is a carb genius recommended I use them on the TR1 reckons I would smoke it in first
he's given me a base setting's and said because of the 2 into 1 exhaust I will have to play with the pilot jets
also the floats will need adjusting because of the angle he reckons i may have to change the needle's /and main jet which both those would probably help the top end leanness you were talking about
will keep you posted
Cheers
Jamie

Now that is about as sweet as a nut...

Normally (horizontal installation) you tune the floats so that they're level with the gasket, if your carbs are leaning out on top and tend to pick up the throttle badly, you have to raise the float level, but please meassure it with a vernier caliper and only adjust in 0.5mm steps.

You can always try a bigger pilot jet (to improve overall fuel flow) or if it is from 3/4s throttle to w.o.t. try bigger main jets.

Cheers,
Greg - only playing around with TM40ies, TM36es and RS34s at the moment, so I can't give you a base setting.
