Hepco & Becker luggage carrier

Hello All

I have purchased a second hand Hepco & Becker luggage carrier. I am embarrassed to say I can't make it fit. I have searched through old forum entries for this make of luggage carrier and compared old photo's with what I have bought. They are identical so the Hepco & Becker luggage carrier is definitely for a TR1. But, I still can't make it fit. The holes on the carrier don't line up with existing bolt holes on the seat framework or grab rail.

Has anyone got an original installation documentation for the luggage carrier or does anyone have photo's showing where the luggage carrier bolts to the TR1?

Thank you
Kevin

Be aware that the 1981 and the 1982 model have different tails. Perhaps the carrier is for the wrong model?

Hello George

I think you are right, that must be the answer. When I bought it it clearly stated it was for a TR1 but I didn't think to ask for which tail model.

Thank you
Kevin

I have further, general, questions on Hepco & Becker luggage:

Are old and new panniers interchangeable? For example can I buy new panniers and fit them on an old (1982) carrier?

Are new keys available for the panniers?

Can I fit H&P panniers intended fop another bike on a TR1? For example will H&P BMW panniers fit on a TR1.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Kevin

Just to round off this discussion.

I have fitted the rack. As George pointed out the rack was for an 82 model TR1, I have an 81 model TR1. As Ali noted I had to drill holes in the Grab Rail to support the rack.

To allow for the pannier rack to be connected to the rear of the seat frame I had to remove 3mm of material from the inside edge grab rail to leave room for the pannier bracket.

I have attached photos of the completed installation. You can see where I have drilled a hole in the grab rail and fitted a hex bolt to secure the middle fixing.

THank you
Kevin
