Hi Brikos, hi all,
Brikos, I suppose that you refer to the little bracket marked in the green circle. As far as I know, during the former serial production between 1981 and 1983, nothing was fixed to that bracket when the TR1 motorcycles left the Yamaha factory in original condition. (Not even in a country specific version.) But maybe the Yamaha developers provided that bracket for "just in case" situations: Some countries have rules for mandatory tax stickers, MOT inspection stickers and so on. The little bracket looks as if a fixation plate for those kinds of stickers could be fixed to it by the help of a rubber strap or something similar. You could also use it to fix eventual ferry tickets or bills for toll roads for temporary moments. I have no information at all that Yamaha gave any hints to use the bracket as such, e. g. in a user manual. So this "fixation idea" is only my crazy assumption. But as Yamaha also provided a small plastic cover under the seat, serving as a storage option for legal documents, it could be possible that Yamaha offered that bracket, too als some "customer-orientated solution".
Your project looks cool. So, good luck for going on with it during the winter time - and lots of fun when you take it out for the first rides in spring.
Cheers,
Roland
