how far down can you drop the forks in the triple tree  ( 20mm / 40 mm ?)
with out getting into trouble this is for the road

Well ... I'm not a fan of the Cafe Racer  , but I would think in three ways.

First way (the easy) and remove the fork Bricke simply bolts to the fork tubes and both fork tubes just look out from above the crown.
Simple test times with 20mm.

The second option is to look for a couple of fork tubes with the diameter of the TR 1 (have a list of all Japanese forks the same diameter) is shorter than that of TR1. As a rule, can fit all dip tubes are replaced.

Ohhhh YES...... this bike are looks very nice, but the exhaust i would make it a little bit other.

To the fork, i think the best way to build it, is the idea from George of the RD350 front wheel.
But ever you must see the riding dynamics, a bigger front wheel or a deeper fork will goes to unstable dynamics for driving. (so i think, please correct me)
