OK, I tried with different things and found that Liquisole works great!   It's for mending rubber boots or rubber soles. It's like silicone but stick better and gets a little bit harder. The chain enclousure seems to be some sort of synthetic rubber and gets hard if it gets to close to the exhaust (behind the left foot peg). I broke off a piece by accident when cleaning off grease and dirt.
