Yamaha TR1 1984. Selling as a non runner, so spares or repair. I have just spent 12 months rebuilding this 1000cc ‘V’ Twin at a cost of over £1400. The list of work carried out is:-
Repaint of Frame, Tank, Side Panels and Wheels in Black.
Silencers have been shortened.
Engine casings been cleaned and repainted in Hammerite Silver.
Heads have been bead blasted, fully rebuilt, including re ground valves and rockers.
Barrels honed, bead blasted and painted in PJ1 Black.
All aluminium casing covers, tappet covers have been professionally polished.
Carburettors rebuilt with new internals
New starter motor and starter solenoid.
New rings.
Recent Bridgestone Tyres back and front.
90% Fastners are Stainless
Mini indicators with a ‘no load’ relay.
The bike looks beautiful and flew through the MoT in August and was running well when the rear head suffered the cam shaft bearing failure, which broke off the recess for the spigot in the shaft itself. I have purchased and fitted a replacement cam and oil pump (in case this was the cause).
Unfortunately there is not compression on the rear cylinder so can only assume a valve was bent when the cam stopped rotating..
I am gearing up for the next project and spent far to much time on this, so the Yam has to go.
She is for sale elsewhere so retain the right to withdraw listing
