HOW OLD IS MY XV1000 TR1 ???

My frame number is 5K8-001288 does this tell the year of manufacture ?

I think your 5K8 is a 5A8 one.
My first TR1. had the frame no.: 5A8002108 and it was an 1981 type with the carrier end.
As I know the years 1981 and 1982 began with 5A800XXX.
The years 1983 and 1984 began with 5A812XXX.
So you have certainly a 30 year old bike.

Thanks for the reply ,
The frame number does start 5K8 , so does the engine number so I am confused about how old my bike is  undecided

Your seat and rear frame looks like the first type sort. Also the indicators. So it is clearly manufactured in 1981 or 1982.
The face lifted bikes were sold since 1983.
Do you come from Australia?
