Seller was riding buddy for 30 years, replacement title will be applied for. He is unfortunately committed to long hours at least for a month or two longer. (long tale).

Seller is friend of 30+ years, just, very busy, on work, sleep schedule. Will be done.
On the old starter the solder melted and was flung about casing. Never saw that before.
Using AGM battery, have to search if I need Rectifier upgrade.
Next weekend should tell me if the motor is good, and the rear shock.

State of CT no title required over 25 years. I think. Shopping for motorcycle insurance (price and coverage), as soon as I have insurance card can begin Registration.
Only question is CT sale tax, location taxes later on. Anyway CT uses N.A.D.A. Eastern listing. which apparently depends in condition.
Do not know of this depends on as purchased or when registered.
May listing valuation Poor N/A,  Fair $600, Good $1,140, Very Good $2,300, Excellent  $4,130.  Sales tax is 6.35%. Hopefully Good or Fair will see me on the road..  tires are only necessity left.. appears to be running good, starting well..
possibly by next weekend..  maybe..

Temporary registration pending VIN number verification.  Unregistered long enough to be "out of the system."
Remaining fixes: neutral light stays on.
Ride today!

Enjoyable ride today.
Neutral wire not attached to switch or easily found, Searching has however switched light off. May run new wire from switch to bulb.
Ambition.
Brakes still not impressive, use seems to be improving them.
Holiday weekend here, good riding to us all.

Bike has been running poorly. Messing around with mixed results.
Two results today:
carbs slides felt a little different when lifted. Checked vacuum diaphragms. !Both! has slipped partly out of place so they did not seal. carefully redone and runs sweet.
electric glitch! bad words, bad word.. then lucky, main fuse feels "loose." zip tied. voila!
Runs like a real bike.

Title wise motorcycles in this state over 25 years old just need "Bill of Sale." However..
CT DMV went to a 19 digit/letter VIN in 82 or 83.  My 81 has 9 digit/letter engine/VIN numbers and a 19 Digit/letter sticker NOT in DMV records (unregistered too long?). Anyway only two "official" DMV  Inspection stations can enter VIN.
Done. Registered with VIN Certificate.

Let the fun begin.

Bought cheap saddle bags (soft) Viking brand from amazon. All good except one top zipper broke after a cramming in episode.

Using ATV seat pad which helps a little. saddle needs help.

Put off replacing carb diaphragms. Appears to have been a mistake.  Replaced with jbmindustries (jbmindustries@att.net) and engines feels much more willing and responsive. Mileage had deteriorated to around 30 mpg. Careful disassembly/reassembly would fix for a week or two.
Will report in a week or two.
These diaphragms require removing two rings from slide, top metal, bottom hard plastic. New diaphragm fits revealed slot. Requires care and patience.
Drat our summer is half over.
Oil drip from clutch side case.
Bottom oil filter screw also holds case cover. Trying to tighten I think case is almost stripped. Will helicoil case during next oil change, use new gasket.
Wish I had the time and money to wander far. Gaining confidence in bike.

Please really use a helicoil for the bottom bolt's thread as simply cutting an M8-thread will starve the heads from oil.

Helicoiled the bottom oil filter screw hole. Installation went well. Replaced clutch cover gasket. Replaced oil filter and tried to reuse O-rings. (new filter did not come with O-rings.  Dripped when running.
Replaced oil filter O-rings no more drip.

Several hundred miles on bike since helicoil done and assembled. NO leaks or drips.  Bike is running very well.
My seating position using my chosen bars pulls me up against the gas tank' I intend to change bars at end of season, do not want to have to lengthen anything till then. Bars are motocross (!), comfortable except for very low speed, when you have to turn them.
Bought some imitation red carbon fiber stick on in case jacket rubs on tank. Looks acceptable, should protect paint.

Sitting on front of saddle, not so good. Shopping for foam, researching DIY saddle foam.

Winter projects, still cannot find neutral wire to connect to switch. Not a bother so far. Self cancelling turn signals do not self cancel.

Adjusted chain, turned bolts about a half turn
