Secondary coil check

Hello,

I tried to measure the resistance of the secondary coils. ( the resistance of the primary coils are good, 2,7 Ohm)

I measured it according to the method desribed in the workshop manual. See picture.

So the resistance need to be aproximatly 8,5 KOhm. unfortunately i measured 14 KOhm. So i thougt these are broken and bougt 2 second hand coils. unfortunately i measured again 14 Kohm. I tried to measure direct on the coils, so without sparkplug cap and sparkplug wire and then i measured 8,5 Kohms on all coils.

So now im confused and i have a couple questions, because the spark looks good.

According to the workshop manual, the coils are broken, But i think i have a good spark. Is the workshop manual wrong ?
Can somebody measure there coils of a working tr1 for me ?
Is it a coincident that i measure on all 4 coils the 8,5 Kohm, but without sparkplug cap and sparkplug wire ?

The resistance of the caps usually is 5kOhm,  because of the radio interference suppression filter.
So i don't wonder about your measure. All coils seem to be ok.

Hello
I have a TR1 project in progress and my coils are off the bike so I measured them. They are working so this is measurements from working units.

If I measure both coils and HT leads as in your diagram above I get 13.94 kohm and 14.22 kohm.

When I measure across the coils, that is both connectors on the plug I get 3.2 ohm and 3.3 ohm.

If I measure just the HT leads I get 5.47 kohm and 5.63 kohm.

I hope this helps.
Kevin

Thank you very much my friend. I have almost the same measurements, so these coils have to be oke.
