Head Gasket (happy Easter by the way)

First happy Easter to all

Hello I am rebuilding a TR1 engine that was dismantled by the previous owner (not a good idea) the Haynes Manual shows 2 different head gaskets, one is round that also uses a rubber seal for the cam chain tunnel the other is one piece gasket. My engine has the groove in the cylinder for the circular gasket.

do I use only the circular gasket and the seal? This doesn't look right to me but thats what is shows in the manual. My TR1 has the tail fairing which I understand is the later model and should use the all in one gasket but the circular gasket came out.

Any ideas?

Yep that means the circular gasket is correct, otherwise the cylinder would be totally flat on the top with no grooves at all.

No worries, happy Easter to you too!

If you really wanted to convert, you'd have to find cylinders off a XV1000 Virago (not 1100, even though strictly speaking those should work as well, but the pistons are too short. So if you were a bit of a redneck, you'd simply run TR1 pistons in those XV1100 cylinders...)

Cheers,
Greg
