Front Wheel
13.10.18 at 20:53:31

Hello all, I've just joined the site and would appreciate some help with the fitment of the front wheel.  I own a 1982 TR1 and have recently replaced  a non standard spoked front wheel (fitted by the previous owner) with an original TR1 alloy.  Note that the spoked wheel was fitted with non standard spacers and speedo drive.  I've fitted new bearings, spacers, seals  & speedo drive  in accordance with the parts catalogue, but appear to have a gap between the speedo drive and the fork.  The picture in the service manual seems to suggest there is a gap but would appreciate confirmation as it doesn't look right to me.   Many thanks.

Hello, this is OK. You mount the wheel with speedo drive on the left side and spacer on the right side against the right fork leg. The you adjust the left fork leg on the axle so that the brake caliper does not touch the disk and fix it by tightening the screw in the fork leg.

Hi,  Thanks for getting back to me.  Yes, I did all that but have a gap between the speedo drive and fork boss which doesn't look right.  Unfortunately I've never seen another TR1 close up so have nothing to compare it to, usually the speedo drive butts tight up against the fork.  If you could post a photo it would be much appreciated.  Many thanks

Thanks for the reply Keith it's appreciated.  I think I must be the last of the holdouts as I don't have a Facebook account.  If you could post it on this site it would be great.  Cheers.

I will. As soon as I get to my laptop. I have a new phone and haven't worked out how to do that yet. Not too clever with these electronic devices...
