Rebuilding a TR1
04.02.21 at 16:55:08

Hi,

I'm rebuilding al TR1 from 1981. I got it a few years ago off a guy who wanted to trow it away. He drove it till the mid '90 and putt it aside when he couldn't start it anymore. He wanted to rebuild it but beside taking it appart he never got to it. So.... it's a huge job to sort it all out.
The loom is totaly rotten/corroded, seat and rear fender are missing, just got the front downpipe of the exhaust,..... But, I'm determined to rebuild it. Started last year in november and taking my time for it. Most of that time i spended on cleaning up the frame and rear. At the moment i'm making a loom from scratch. Just finished today the running part... Taking my time.

But, to the point.... I'm getting closer to starting it up. Seeing i don't have an exhaust i've been looking on the net for one but can't find one.
Does anybody got an idee where to look or have a solution ? I would like to keep it stock. I've seen the "cafe racer" solutions but that's not what i want.

Grts Tom

Hi Tom,

something like this perhaps?

http://greasygreg.blogspot.com/2019/03/the-next-version-of-mk7-exhaust.html

... and yes I will make another batch again (very likely in Summer), but uni and my day-job keep me a bit busy at the moment.

Those are silencers for industrial application, all stainless and dead cheap. (I am still at uni, so costs matter more to me than maybe someone else.) I wouldn't mind a nice set of megaphones, but they would easily cost more than all the rest of the material and as I build the exhausts primarily for personal use...

Hi Tom,
From Belgium, near Antwerp.
Timewisse, a runner in 2 months or so. Depends on the weather. I'm working in a shag with no heating....
The goal is july to have it finished. Would like to make some trips during the summer time.

So, next question, just to be sure.... The front cilinder is number 1 and the back number 2 ?
It' for the wires from de TCI to the coils: green n°1, orange n°2.
