progressive fork spring problems TR1
12.02.12 at 08:32:27

hi,
the forks are dismantled ready to replace seals and upgraded progressive springs ( from progressive suspension kit for Xv920 1981 kit # 11-1117)
I measured the length between the stock springs and progressive
and there seems to be a difference in length between the progressive and the stock springs

stock springs: 57.5 cm plus  1.5 cm spacer  total  59 cm ( spacer must been added at some stage)
progressive springs 51.5 cm with a spacer around 15 cm ( to be trimmed , to the length required)
but
the note on the progressive site says 1.5"inch spacer ( about 3.8 cm)
which makes the spring and spacer height only 55.3 cm which is 2.2 cm shorter than  the stock springs !!

help please ?
j

The suspension should sink in about one third of the whole travel if you sit on the bike, that is about 3 or 4 cm. Just try out how long the spacer must be to achieve that. But be sure not to make the old error: Cut it off three times and its still too short. Wink

Bye,
Georg
