Wheels and Fork conversion
16.12.17 at 11:50:06

Hi All,
Apologies for writing in english but my german in very bad. I'm reading this forum for couple of weeks now and find it extremely usefull.
I'm in process of converting my '82 TR1 into Street Tracker inspired by Sepp and Hansl projects (track 80% and street 20% use).

First idea was to swap wheels from 1986 Suzuki GSXR 1100 - 18x4.0 Rear and 18x2.5 Front or 1988 Suzuki GSXR 1100 - 18x4.5 Rear and 18x2.75 Front with Triumph Speed Triple 955i forks. Unfortunately it's really hard to find anything in good condition and acceptable price level.

Now I'm considering to switch to FZR 1000 2LA conversion 18x4.5 Rear, 17x3.5 Front with forks, brake discs and calipers conversion as they are easier to find.
Is there anything that will require additional effort like. rear wheel alligment, spacers etc.
Any pros and cons for that swap, can I expect any difficulties, any advices?

Thank you for you help in advance!
Regards,
Peter

Ok,
So after initial fitting of FZR1000 front suspension it seems that it's to short and it may cause problems with cornering clearance and geometry.
Because of that I have decided to go into slightly different direction with Ducati Multistrada 1000 UPS forks (82cm long) and Ducati Monster 620 front and rear wheels (17inches, 24cm axel, slightly lighter then FZR1000 wheels - will require some spacers), brakes - to have better tyre choice and from initial fitting will land pretty well - front sprocket will require some alligment but looks good as of now. Now I'm focusing on measurements of angles to ensure that everything will work like it should and ordering required parts.

Got one foto during striping down.
