roller bearing conversion
03.05.17 at 16:14:21
I have read a lot about camshafts seizing and since it is not a expensive upgrade I am about to do the roller bearing conversion on my TR1 . I understand that the correct bearing is 6202 but should I use ZZ or 2RS bearings?

I use these bearings since 55000 KM, no Problems. But i put in the "open" bearings, no ZZ or 2RS. They have the "normal" clearance, somewhere i read that with a C4 clearance it´s more on the safe side, but as i wrote: no problems,

Any chance of a few pics of the process? I currently have 2 engines in bits so would consider doing it too..

Sorry, no pics, but:
just take out the old Alloy-bearing, put in the new Roller-bearing and use the original plate for holding it in place,

I read somewhere that the bearing size is 6202 but I have received these bearings today and they are far too small (unless i'm missing something) The alloy bearing is OD 52mm ID 25 and 20mm wide which makes it a 4205 bearing which is 18mm wide
The photo shows a 6202 bearing and the alloy bearing. Am I making a mistake somewhere ?

The Virago forum seem to be using 6205 bearings which are 25x52x15mm

Here you can see the mounted bearing.
It's a 6205.

Only the cam chain side gets done, correct?
Ordered 6 x 6205 bearings, I have 3 engines, will do them all. I'll try and do a video instruction too.
