Hi all,
Does anyone have any cylinders for sale please?  It would appear that my cylinders have been reworked at some point and are shorter than standard, too short for my new pistons...  It appears that my old pistons were skimmed to match, so I either skim the new pistons or replace the cylinders...  or pad out the base gasket.  Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Jason

I should have a set and will have a look over the weekend, whether this is truly the case.

Just a thought:
maybe you have a 1100 crank,  in that case 1000cc pistons won´t match, they will go over the top, because the piston bolt position is different. It makes no sense to rework cylinders that much, so it seems a bit suspicious to me,

Thanks for looking Nanno, it's much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Ali.  I must admit that the possibility of it being a 1100 crank had never crossed my mind.  I've been advised that the cylinder height should be approx. 100.50mm and mine are approx. 99.10/99.20mm so it appears that they've been altered at some point.

Kind Regards
Jason

If my memory serves me right Kevin, you're based in Salisbury.  That's a good few hours away.  Didn't you hold the rally there a couple of years ago?

Hello Jason

You have a very good memory. We did have the rally here in 2019.

If I can help with the barrels let me know. If you think that yours have been modified let me have the dimensions and I can measure the barrels I have in comparison.

If not, I have a pair of barrels that were removed from the bike when it had done 9k miles. I upgraded my engine to 1100cc so I know these are good.

Regards
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I've been advised that the cylinders should be 100.5mm high, mine are approx.  99.1/99.2mm.   I intend to rebore the barrels to 95.5mm to match my new pistons so it's not a problem if they are out of round.  If yours are 100.5mm (or close to)  I'll be interested in buying them.  Thanks for helping.
Kind Regards
Jason

Hello Jason

I checked my barrels. I have measured them from gasket face to gasket face in four locations. The first barrel measures 101.1 100.9 100.9 100.9. The second barrel measures 101.3 100.9 100.9 100.9.

These barrels came off my working TR1, I am happy that they are fine.

Any differences in my measurements are probably due to my measuring device and the way I am measuring them. As I said these have come off a working TR1.

Let me know what you want to do.

Regards
Kevin

That looks spot on Kevin, definitely on the right side of where I need to be.  If you could e-mail me a figure please (including postage) that would be great.
Kind Regards
Jason
