[Wanted] - TR1 Second Generation

Hi all,

I am trying do find a second generation TR1 to purchase.

It has to be in Europe and I will be transporting it to Cyprus where I live.

The potential seller will not be burdened with anything other than being present when the shipping company arrives. Maybe just some basic paperwork for transferring ownership.

Payment terms can be whatever the seller wants.

Regards,
Evros

Evros, as this is the typical way scams go, don't expect much feedback from within this group.

If you're honest about it: Check out a few bikes online, book a rental car, fly to Germany, buy a bike and ride it home.

Cheers,
Greg

Hi Greg,

I thought so. The trouble is I live on an island anyway. So there will be some shipping involved anyway.

Also traveling to Germany and taking ownership of the bike and then riding it without insurance, etc. might end up being worse.

Not many about in stores either. Also most sellers will not reply to my english messages or translated messages.

I have already sorted out the shipping company. All they want from me is the go signal to go and pick a motorcycle up. So all is set apart from the potential seller!

Any ideas are welcome!

Regards,
Evros

There's transfer numberplates and having lived in Greece for a while, just take a greek numberplate, slap it on and ride the bike home. The worst is a few hundred Euros in fines. Not sure what the ferry-routes to Cyprus are, but e.g. Athens is pretty easy to reach from Italy.

Otherwise: car and trailer or buy a used van (if you're smart you can make a nice profit on that one too) - turn it into a bit of a road trip. Be adventurous and see a bit of Europe. Life's too short for paying shipping companies.

Cheers,
Greg

Greg,

Despite the sound of this is fun I cannot do this right now.

Actually, getting another motorbike would help me in my commute greatly as the little 250 cannot really handle my daily route.

I always wondered what the TR1 was and when I found out, my new commuter had to be it.

Also, the steering wheel is on the "wrong" side for a potential van purchase....

In any case, the quotes that I got from shipping companies aren't all that bad.

Regards,
Evros

Hi Evros,

to be honest, if you want a bike, you need to pick it up. You can´t expect e seller to handle the shipping for you and bear the risks involved? Or send a representative with the money and the permission to sign a sales-contract. You have to understand also sellers side.

arriving by train with a helmet, the money and a temporary number-plate would give you the chance to ride the bike home yourself. What´s wrong with that?

How on earth did I miss that!

I've been spending too much time on German websites, I've forgotten all about the UK.

Cheers for that, I'll look into it!
