Problems balancing front forks

I have had a really bad time trying to get the air in the front forks to balance.
Does anyone have an easy method or know where I can get hold of a blancing pipe?

Well, Sepp and myself experimented quite a bit with that many
years (12-13!) ago. The latest solution we had was connecting
the fork valves with a airpipe and attaching a small pressure
meter (1-6bar) (placed left of the speedometer).
We even drilled a small hole into the meter to fill it up with
glycerin, to prevent vibrations. All parts required have been
taken from standard air pressure equipment and the cost have
been below DM50. We even made a long pipe from the monoshock to
the front, connected another air pressure meter to it (right of
of the revmeter). We kept that construction for some years but
removed it then. At least at that time there have been balancing
pipes available from German mail order companys (Hein Guerike -
www.hein-gericke.de and Louis - www.louis.de).
Now I use following simple procedure: Fill the fork up to aprox.
1.5 to 2 bar, use a small pressure meter which can be attached
directly to the fork and release the pressure step by step until
you reach the required value. That works very well in my case
and just by reading the meter, i can not see any difference in
pressure.

The other problem with this is that I lose most of the pressure when I remove the pump I am using.
I am using a syringe pump at the moment which you have to unscrew and therefore lose pressure.  any suggestions as to other pumps to use?

I use a plain standard handpump. When I remove the pump from
the valve, not very much air gets out of the valve. Get yourself
such a pump and your problem might be gone.

Hey, stop fooling around !
in any case buy the interconnector, its a foolproof way
to make sure u have the same pressure right and left and
thats the most important part.
The theres no difference in the air escaping...
and it doesn't matter then.
in case you need a gauge, these are quite cheap in the sanitary
or air pressure business, and the system Manfred described
will give u the ultimate control..
be careful when u use a gasoline station air filler
or compressor, cause very little air leads to a buildup of prssure

Hi,
what problems do you have?
You need no air-pressure!
Put in white-power-springs. Thats all!

Hi Piet!
I always thought air was cheaper?!
If not, how do these white power springs compare when it comes to handling?
except that you can't vary stiffness like you can with air?
Where can they be obtained and at what price?!
Thanx,
KLaus
